Commodity Food and Nutrition

Saginaw County CAC offers food services for applicants who qualify under the income guidelines for each appropriate program.  This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

  • A quarterly distribution program that is income-based (130% of federal poverty guideline), and funded by the Department of Education and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
  • The food in this program is designed to supplement normal groceries, not as a substitution of grocery shopping altogether.
  • Food is picked up at 800 S. 20th Street, Saginaw, MI 48601.

Eligibility criteria are:

To apply for service, bring:

  • Proof of income
  • ID

Urban Gardening Program – provides residents the opportunity to grow nutritious food gardens. Agency will till garden area and provide seeds for up to 55 gardens in the community. Garden preparation starts each April, depending on weather.

Eligibility criteria are:
